About Directory Objects |
A directory object is a logical structure that represents a physical directory (called a folder on Windows systems) on the server's file system. Directory objects provide management flexibility by eliminating the need to specify physical directory paths in commands.
Directory objects are owned by the SYS user. Directory object names are unique across the database, because all directory objects are located in a single name space (SYS).
Note: Permissions for directory objects are not the same as the operating system permissions on the physical directory on the server file system. |
