Creating a Materialized View

Before you create a new materialized view (Materialized Views), make sure the following preliminary tasks have been completed.

• If you are creating a materialized view with fast refresh, create the necessary materialized view logs for the master table before creating the materialized view. See Creating Materialized View Logs for details.

• Create a refresh group that the materialized view can use for automatic refreshes. See Creating a Refresh Group for details.

After you have completed the actions above, perform the following tasks:

1. In Enterprise Manager, connect to the Database Instance Home page as the replication administrator.

2. Click Data Movement.

3. Under the Advanced Replication section, click Setup. The Advanced Replication: Setup page appears.

4. Expand Updateable Materialized View Replication, and select Create Materialized View.

5. Under Materialized View Site section, click the number next to open the Materialized Views page.

6. On the Materialized Views page, click Create.

   The General subpage of the Create Materialized View page appears, enabling you to create a new materialized view.

   For information about using a particular subpage in the Create Materialized View page, click Help when the subpage is selected.
