Read me for EM Outbound Data Exchange Session Sample This document has instructions and steps required to run a sample Data Exchange outbound session using Oracle BAM server. Setup on the JMS Server side 1. This document assumes that the JMS server is configured with all the required topic names for creating an Outbound Session. Please see the EM documentation for details. Setup on the Oracle BAM Server side 1. This document assumes that the artifacts necessary for BAM are imported successfully. 2. Also, import the outboundsession_report.xml from $ORACLE_HOME/sysman/bam directory in an 10.2.0.3 or above Grid Control install. ICommand cmd=import file=outboundsession_report.xml This will result in creating OutboundSessionReport report. 3. Update the JNDI location in all the EMS definitions corresponding to the JMS server. Setup on the Grid Control side 1. Create a Data Hub entry corresponding to the JMS server. a. Login into Grid Control using an user with super-user privileges and click on 'Setup' link on the top right. b. Once in Setup, click on the 'Data Exchange' in the left navigation panel. c. Click on the 'Data Exchange Hub' tab if not already there. d. Click on 'Create' button. This takes you to the 'Create Data Exchange Hub' page. Use this page to create a Data Exchange hub. All fields on this page are mandatory. e. Enter a unique name for the hub. f. Enter the JNDI Service Provider URL, Username, and Password for the JMS server. g. Click 'Ok'. 2. Create an Outbound Data Exchange Session a. Click the 'Outbound Data Exchange Session' tab on the Data Exchange main page. b. Click on 'Create' button. This takes you to the 'Create Outbound Data Exchange Session' wizard. c. On the 'Create Outbound Data Exchange Session: Session Setup' page, you need to: i. Specify a unique name for the session. ii. Select the hub created in the previous step from the drop-down-list. iii. Enter a user name or a comma-separated list of users on the external system who can access the data being sent out. This field can be left blank, if no user information needs to be sent. iv. Choose the "Normalized" message format. When you select Normalized, meta information about targets and metrics is sent during data session setup and metric values are sent with only GUID references to the meta information already sent. d. Click 'Next'. This takes you to the 'Create Outbound Data Exchange Session: Select Targets and Metrics/Alerts/Availability' Page. i. Add a target by clicking the 'Add' button. This takes you to the 'Select Targets and Metrics/Alerts/Availability: Add Target' Page. In this page, you can add a target and specify alerts and metrics to be sent during the session. ii. Click on the 'Search' icon. Select 'Host' as the target type from the drop-down-list. Choose a host from the table. Click 'Select'. iii. The 'Metrics/Alerts' table gets populated with the metrics associated with the host selected. Check both "Send Metric Values" and "Send Alerts" checkboxes for 'Availability', 'CPU Utilization (%)' and 'Memory Utilization (%)' metrics in the table. iv. Click 'OK'. This brings you back to the 'Create Outbound Data Exchange Session: Select Targets and Metrics/Alerts/Availability' Page. e. Click 'Next'. This takes you to the 'Create Outbound Data Exchange Session: Schedule' Page. i. Use the default "Schedule Now" and "Repeating" option for scheduling the session. ii. Select the Frequency as every 1 minute. iii. You can either have the session running indefinitely or choose an end- date and time when you'd like to stop sending data from the Grid Control. d. Click 'Next'. This brings you to the 'Create Outbound Data Exchange Session: Review' Page. Use this page to review the selections made in the previous pages of the wizard, including the name of the session, the hub to be used, the added target, the metric and alert selections for the target, and the schedule for the session. Click 'Back' to change anything that you would like to change, before clicking 'Finish'. 3. When you click 'Finish', you are returned to the main Outbound Data Exchange Session page, which lists this session along with other sessions and also shows the status of the session. Make sure you get a success message as confirmation. If either the job system or the notification system fails, you will get a confirmation message notifying you of the problem and asking if you would like to continue. The problem has to be corrected in order for the session to run properly. Running the demo 1. Make sure the JMS server is up and running. 2. Make sure the outbound Data Exchange session is actively scheduled. 3. Make sure all the required plans are running. 4. Go to BAM to see if you are receiving data in the data objects. 5. Click on 'Active Viewer' in BAM. Click 'Select Report' and choose the 'OutboundSessionReport' from 'My Reports'. You'll be prompted to choose/enter the Session Name. Select the session that you created now. You should see the metrics, alerts and availability information of the target that you chose in the above-created session in a dashboard. Dropping the report in the Oracle BAM Server The report can be dropped using the ICommand as follows: 1. ICommand cmd=delete type=report name=OutboundSessionReport Or via the Active Studio UI..
